Photo Shoot

Zach just had his two month appointment last week!!

He now weighs 10 pounds 3 oz and is 23 inches long.
He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight.

He hated getting his shots but LOVED the taste of his grape medicine!!

He is starting to find his voice and smiles a lot.

He still loves to take a bath and be bounced

He rolls over from his tummy to his back and is starting to scoot around a little.

We sure do love this little guy.

Here are some pictures of him that my friend Dani took! She did an AWESOME job! You should check out her work at danikeiserphotogarphy.com Thanks Dani!

Zachary Gordon Moss 1-1-11

We would like to introduce Zachary Gordon Moss! He was born on 1-1-11, weighed 6.09 pounds and was 19.5 inches long! We love him SO-OO much and are so grateful to have him as part of our family. I am going to put some pictures up of him as well as his birth story. This post is a little long but hopefully it will be fun for friends and family to see pictures of him.

Zachary's birth story:
On New year's eve I started getting really bad contractions in the afternoon. We had just returned home from vacation and both weren't feeling to well so we decided to just stay home that night. We thought we would play some board games and go to be early!! We told our families that we would be asleep way before midnight. Around 6:00 p.m. we noticed that my contractions were getting more frequent so we decided that we better start timing them. We timed them for about 2 hours and they were about ten minute apart. I had just barely had false labor so we were trying to be really cautious and just wait them out.
Around 10:00 p.m. I was still having major contractions so we called the hospital. They told me to chug a liter of water and take some medicine to see if the contractions would go away. Well I drank the water and took some medicine and they were not getting any slower. But I still wanted to wait them out because I did not want to go into false labor again! We went to bed around midnight after hearing fireworks outside. I couldn't sleep and around 2:00 A.M. I woke Tyler up and we decided we better go to the hospital.
When we got to the hospital they hooked me up to an IV to get fluids in me to see if dehydration was causing the contractoins. I was so dehydrated that they had to poke me 4 times!! They finally got the IV in and then took some blood and a urine sample. They were a little worried because my blood pressure was pretty high.
After they put the fluids in me, my contractions had not gone away. The nurse then came back and told me that they had found a bunch of protein in my urine and that I had preeclampsia. They thenb admitted me to the hospital until I had the baby. We were so excited and nervous because we knew our baby was going to come soon!! We were also relieved and grateful that I was not in false labor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The nurses were nervous because preeclampsia can cause seizures and other serious medical problems. They started pumping magnesium sulfate into me to prevent any seizures from happening. The nurse then told us that the doctor would be in at 9:00 a.m. to talk to us.
When the doctor came in he told us that the only way to cure preeclampsia is to deliever the baby. He then checked to see if I was dilated and to everyones surprised I had dilated to a 3!! The nurses and doctor were shocked!! So the doctor broke my water and gave me some potossium and morphine for my contractions.
At around 11:00 the nurse checked me again and I was dilated to a 5. We were so excited! They then gave me my epidural - which was amazing!!!! We were well on our way to give birth.
Around 2:00 p.m. I was dilated to a 8. The nurse thought I would have the baby before 3:30. However, it took me until 3:30 to be dilated to a 10. At 3:30 the nurse called the doctor and told him that we were ready to start pushing!!!

This is the doctor about to start labor! I pushed for about 1 1/2 hours and our baby boy was born at 5:09 p.m. I was so grateful for all the help in delievering Zach. A special thanks to my husband Tyler for holding my hand and getting me ice chips all day!! His support, love and kindness was amazing! I am SO very grateful for him and his help and support.

He weighed 6.09 ounces and was beautiful!!!
These are the sweet nurses that helped me out all day! They really were a huge support!

We love our little boy so much!!!!! He is so sweet and such a good baby!! It was such a tender experience to watch him be born. It was a miracle to see him finally after 9 months of waiting!!! I instantly fell in love with him. I am so grateful for my two boys in my life!!! We got to hold Zach for a while after they delievered him and then they moved me to another room because I was still recieving magnesium sulfate. I was told I was on bed rest until 24 hours later. The magnesium sulfate makes it hard for your uterus to contract and heal properly. Around 3:00 A.M. the next morning I was bleeding like crazy. So the doctor came in and found that I had some major blood clots. They tried to remove the blood clots to help my uterus contract right.

My mom flew in that morning to help us out and boy was she a life savor! It was good to have her with us.

I was so hungry that I was so glad just to have some cereal for a snack!
Below is my hilarious nurse Julie!! She helped us get through the second day in the hospital!! I had to have my blood pressure checked once an hour to see if it was going down at all. She made us laugh just about every time she came into the room! Right before 7:00 p.m. that night, I was suppose to be moved to postpardum but had another huge blood clot. Luckily the doctor said everything looked okay and I was able to be transferred to another room and get off bed rest!!
It was our anniversary while I was at the hospital and so my cute husband surprised me with flowers and some really pretty earrings. My mom got Zach the cute blue bear and balloon!!

On our third day of our hospital stay we were planning on leaving at about 11:00 a.m. Well the doctors came in to take my blood and check some of my levels. My blood pressure had gone down a little but they wanted to make sure everything was okay. The nurse came into my room at about 8:00 a.m. and told me that I was really low on blood and recommended that I get a blood transfusion. They got the blood ready and we were ready stay in the hospital another day!! After about 4 hours of recieving blood I was finally feeling a little bit better. The nurses helped me get up and walk around a little bit. They had me walk to the end of the hall with the baby to see if I could do it okay.

By this time it was about 5:00 p.m. and I was really wanting to go home. They came and took my blood again and it had improved dramatically. They then told me that I could go home!! We were so excited to go home!

We put on our baby's first outfit and got him ready to meet his new home.

We have loved having baby Zach in our lives. Every day with him seems like a miracle!! His sweet little spirit has been such a blessing to us. There is nothing like holding a new child in your arms. It is the sweetest experience. Thanks to everyone for all of your support and love through this crazy last week!! We are grateful for your prayers and all the help you have given us!!!

Our Christmas Adventure

This Christmas has been a big adventure!! My parents gave us tickets to come to Utah so despite me being 36 weeks pregnant, we packed up our bags and got ready to go to the airport. While we were hanging out and waiting for our flight - we heard over the intercom that our plane had been canceled. We were shocked. I guess there was a hydrolic leak in the plane. This should have been our first sign not to come to Utah!!

So all the passengers on our flight had to exchange their tickets for a different flight. Ours didn't leave until way Late that night and instead of a direct flight we were going to have to make a layover!! We both weren't feeling very well and didn't know how we were going to stay up so late! It was going to be a long day!! So my super awesome husband went and talked to the flight attendant, told him I was pregnant and got us on a different flight that left in an hour. I was relieved. But now instead of waiting for a couple of hours, we were running through the airport trying to get our luggage and catch our flight. The airlines couldn't find our luggage for a while and were not going to let us on board. They finally gave us the OK to go about 20 minutes before our flight left. So we ran to get through security and I started getting leg cramps. So I was running/hobbling and yelling at Tyler to wait for me. One lady I passed looked at me and said "Wow, look at that pregnant woman run!" ha ha. The best part was that the music from Home Alone was playing in the airport while we were running to catch our flight. We laughed pretty hard about that. We were the last ones to get on the plane but made our flight!!!!

Okay so then we get to Utah and I still am not feeling very well. The doctor gave both me and Tyler some antibiotics before we came for bronchitis. Tyler's were starting to work but mine weren't working at all. I thought that maybe after a couple of days of relaxing I would feel better. Well we waited a couple of days and they medicine still wasn't helping. I was actually feeling worse. I was also getting worried because every time I coughed I would get a big contraction. On the 24th we finally decided that I needed to go see a doctor. The only place in Utah that would accept our insurance was the ER. So we drove over there and luckily there was no wait!

At the ER the nurse came in and told me that my blood pressure was really high - something that I have never had during my pregnancy. This made them worried so they had a lady from Labor and Delivery come down to check the baby's heart beat. Luckily the baby sounded fine. They then did a couple of different tests and found out that I had pneumonia. They told me that they could give me some new antibiotics that would help!!!!

After find out that I had pneumonia the doctor was worried because my contractions were getting stronger and stronger so he told me that they were going to wheel me up to Labor and Delivery!! My mom and Tyler were with me and were both a little nervous - they were timing my contractions and trying to help me to breath!! In the labor and delivery room the nurse strapped some belts around my stomach to track my contractions and the baby's heart beat. My contractions were coming about every 4-5 minutes and were really strong. The nurse gave me an IV and started to give me some liquids. She said that sometimes if you are dehydrated you can get contractions. Well after going through both bags of liquids my contractions were not slowing down but getting stronger! At this point, I thought we were for sure going to have the baby!

The nurse then gave me some morphine to help with the pain and told me she would come back in a couple of hours to see if I was dilating. They still weren't sure if I was in active labor. When she came back in to check I was only dilated to a 2. My contractions had now slowed down to about every 7 minutes. The nurse said the doctor wanted to see me and we would have to wait another couple of hours and get checked again. I was starving at this point and luckily the nurse let me have a Popsicle and some crackers. Well after waiting two more hours and getting checked again I was still dilated at a 2. The doctor then came in and told me I was in false labor and could go home. He said that the contractions were probably caused by the pneumonia. It was midnight when we finally left the hospital!! I was so grateful to be going home. I was also so grateful for all my family that supported me through this!! They were a big help to me!! Poor Tyler had to get up with me that night about 4 times to go to the bathroom because I couldn't sit up on my own!!

Seriously both of mine and Ty's families have been so support and helpful throughout all of this. It was a blessing to have them around us to help us through this!! Thank you to all of my family who stayed up with us at night, and prayed for us and encouraged us!! It meant the world to us! They have given us so much TLC this Christmas and have really been an amazing support.

I threw up on Christmas morning and have been feeling better each day!! I now have a little taste of what labor will feel like and know to eat a HUGE meal before I go to the hospital!! We also learned that it is probably best not to travel eight months pregnant! But most important we really were grateful for all the people around us and the love they gave to us!! We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with love! We hope your Christmas was a little less crazy than ours!!

Life Update

I thought I would write a small post and update everyone on what's going on in our lives. So far we are loving Omaha and the people here. Our ward is amazing and has been so great to us. Tyler is doing great in Law School. He studies like a horse but hopefully it will pay off. He has been putting in at least 60 hours a week of reading for school. It was hard at first to have him studying so much but we can now see the end of his first semester in sight! His first final is in 2 weeks!! YAY!!!! We can't wait to have this first semester under our belts! It has been fun to see how much he has learned. It is fun to watch his progress and see how much he likes studying the law.

My pregnancy is going great! I work at an elementary school in Omaha, and the kids are always reminding me that my stomach is getting really big!! They always looked shocked when I tell them the baby is not coming until January. ha ha. Gotta love kids!! I am 7 months pregnant now!!! It has gone so fast - I can't believe I only have two more months to go! I have had the best pregnancy. I haven't really gotten sick or been to uncomfortable. I keep expecting to wake up one day feeling awful but so far that hasn't happened!! I am hoping that this good luck will last a little longer! One of my favorite things about being pregnant is feeling the baby kick. He is starting to kick all the time!! I am so excited to meet this little guy!

Halloween

We had a really fun Halloween this year. We started off by going to a trunk-or-treat at our ward building and then went to our friends apartment for a fun party. We loved seeing all of the crazy costumes and hanging out with friends. I couldn't figure out how to flip the pictures on this so some of them are facing the wrong way. Oops!

This is our buddy Ray, Aka Santa Clause. His little boy dressed up like a reindeer. It was cute.

Our friend Ben definatley won the creepiest costume award. Doesn't he look like the guy from batman? His wife's costume was pretty sweet too.

At the Halloween Party.

We had a pumpkin carving contest.

This is our pumpkin for the contest. We had some BYU fans as judges so needless to say, we lost!!! But the pumpkin still looks beautiful and should have won!!

These guys win the best costume award!! They went all out!

Our next door neighboors, Anya and Blake.

Matt, Morgan and their cute little monkey Carter.

Some friends that Tyler met at law school, Jose and Luiz.

This was our Trunk at the trunk-or-treat.

Kids trick or treating.

Weston and his mom getting some candy. Aren't they cute?

Robinhood and a Ninja.

We went as Mary Poppins and a Chimney Sweep. Our friends went as Storm and the wolverine. I love her hair!

This is how serious trunk-or-treaters decorate their cars. The mouth on this trunk even moved up and down. We have a long way to go to get to their level!!

A cute couple in our ward. Love thier costumes!!
It was so fun to be with some great friends this Halloween. It really was such a fun day and really memorable. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

What a day it was finding out that we are having a boy!!! I will never forget it!

26 Weeks

So here is what 26 weeks looks like. I'm getting a little bigger and the baby is kicking harder! It's been fun to feel him more. The baby loves to start kicking as soon as I lay down - convenient right :) But Tyler has sure gotten a "kick" out of it. It's been really fun!!! I start into my third trimester in one week. The countdown is on! We even watched these "lamaze breathing" clips on tv! We can't believe it is coming so close...We are super excited!!!
