About Omaha

I was going to do a post on all the fun things we have done this summer but realized that all of our pictures are on Tyler's computer. So that will have to wait for another day. But I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I have noticed about Omaha. Here is a little list:

1. The Humidity!! It gets so hot and sticky here. Seriously it is hard to go outside for longer than thirty minutes. But luckily it is starting to cool down during the nights.

2. Sakata bugs. These are also known as locust bugs. They make the loudest noises. Seriously they are like crickets on steroids. They are mostly around during July, August, and September, so we only have 1 more month with them. You get used to them after a while though.

3. Fireflies. I had never seen a firefly before I moved out here! They are so neat!! One of our favorite things to do is sit on our porch and watch the fireflies at night.

4. Bunnies and squirrels in our front yard!! I have never seen so many bunnies and squirrels live in residential areas. When I take Tyler to school in the morning there is always a little squirrel sitting on our front lawn. They are really cute. I guess some places here even have peacocks randomly walk across their lawns. That has been pretty fun to see!

5. The roads in Omaha are not the best! Enough said.

6. It is so different not seeing an LDS church on every corner. Our stake center is about 20-30 minutes away. But the members here are so strong and are so nice and welcoming.

7. There are lots and lots of cornfields here. I have never seen cornfields that are so big! The corn here is delicious because it is all local! I think we have had corn with almost all of our dinners!!

8. They have RUNZA in omaha. Never heard of it? I hadn't either. RUNZA is a hamburger place kind of like a Mcdonalds or Wendy's. They are all over the place. We have yet to try one but it seems like it is really popular around here.

9. The fortune 500 companies are huge here. My favorite one is owned by Berkshire and Hathaway. It is a big store called the Nebraska Furniture Mart. It is the biggest furniture store in the country!!! It is like a Wal-Mart times five. The fun part about it, is it is set up like a fast food place. After you have selected the piece of furniture you want, all you have to do is drive up to this speaker and tell them your order number. Then you pull up a little bit and they will bring the furniture out to you and put it in your car for you. And if you don't have a car big enough, then they can still deliever it to your house for you. It seriously is sweet.

10. Omaha has lots of fun parks and trails to walk on. The temple is beautiful here and the visitors center is awesome. The Missouri river is also right by Omaha, so you can cross it and be in Iowa in about 10 minutes.

We have really liked living here so far! So far law school is going good and I have a couple of interviews lined up for jobs! YEAH!!! We hope everyone back home is doing good!!! We love you all!

Our Home is Now Omaha

"All Our Bags Are Packed, We're Ready to Go"
Leaving Utah was hard becuase we will miss all of our
Friends and Family!!! We love you guys!!!
A BIG thank you to everyone who helped us move.

Omaha...Here we come! Driving through the miles and miles of corn fields was amazing.
This picture, however, is of a giant sunflower patch. What a sight to see :)

This is our new home! And this is the fun part - the Baby's Room!

And its dresser.

Tyler got all of his stuff put in with the kid, in the Baby's Room, because he is still a Kid at Heart!
Hopefully he doesn't get too distracted while studying :)

Our family room.

And where I do most of my business - the Kitchen!

We are loving it so far here in Omaha, Nebraska. The people have been great to us and there is a lot of fun stuff to do so Tyler and I will have fun date nights on the weekends when he is not in school. The heat is pretty bad though, but it is beginning to cool down - phew :) Outside our apartments there are these nasty bugs called Sequedas. They sound a constant buzzing like crickets but on steroids! Tyler has Law School Orientation this Thursday so we are trying to make every moment count until he starts! Classes start the following Monday with his first class being Constitutional Law - Yikes! Glad it's him and not me :) :) I get to stay home once I have the baby and play!!! Really, I am currently looking for a job. I will work for about four months until we have our baby and then the fun/parenting begins.
We miss everyone! Keep in touch!
